The Terrain is the compact size and starts at $30,400.
GMC rates the Terrain to tow up to 1,500 lbs. properly equipped, and that number tells you the job it was tuned for. Think school runs, a commute on FM 1960, a weekend at the coast with luggage in back, and a light utility trailer at the top end. This is the size that asks the least of your driveway and your fuel budget.
The Terrain ladder runs Elevation at $30,400, AT4 at $39,100, and Denali at $42,200. All three share the same 1,500 lbs. ceiling, so the money above the Elevation goes to equipment and interior finish. Running costs follow the size too. AAA’s 2025 Your Driving Costs study puts the compact SUV category with front-wheel drive at $10,279 a year to own and operate at 15,000 miles, or 68.53 cents a mile.

Mid-size is where a GMC SUV starts carrying people and gear on the same trip. The third row is the headline, and the cargo number behind it is what makes that row usable, because seats with nothing behind them just move the problem to the roof. GMC rates the Acadia to tow up to 5,000 lbs. properly equipped.
Fold the third row and cargo space opens to 57.30 cu. ft. Fold the second row too and GMC lists 97.5 cu. ft. behind the front seats. Trims run Elevation at $43,600, AT4 at $52,400, and Denali at $58,900. Step up a size and the yearly bill steps up with it: AAA’s 2025 study puts the medium SUV category with four-wheel drive at $12,584 a year at the same 15,000 miles.
The Yukon and Yukon XL tow up to 8,400 lbs.
Full-size answers a trailer and a full third row on the same weekend. Both start at $69,600 in Elevation trim, and every Yukon trim carries the same tow ceiling, so the choice between the two bodies comes down to how much room you want behind the last row. The XL is the same SUV stretched.
Above the Elevation sit the AT4 at $76,600 and the Denali at $80,400. Neither one raises the tow rating. GM has led the full-size SUV segment for 51 consecutive years, per its 2025 US sales report, and the Yukon is its GMC entry in that fight. If you tow a boat to Galveston or pull a car trailer to a Saturday event, this is the size the math points to.
But your weekly cargo picks the size before the seat count does.

The HUMMER EV SUV sits outside the three-size ladder.
The HUMMER EV SUV is its own category, and it does not slot in between the Acadia and the Yukon. It is electric, it rides on GMC’s electric truck hardware, and The EPA rates it at 312 to 315 miles depending on trim (EPA, 2026); the 363-mile figure GMC advertises is for the Pickup 3X, not the SUV.
Output reaches as much as 830 hp, and the SUV 3X starts at $105,300. Buy it because you want that specific vehicle and you have a 240-volt circuit at home. It is not the answer to a cargo or third-row question that the Acadia or the Yukon already covers for far less.
